New to Corona

Hello fellow Coronians

I’ve registered for the forum months back and have downloaded the corona sdk but really never had the time to sit down and mess with it. A lot has changed! I am looking to start next month (February) and I would like some advice on getting CURRENT tools to work with the Corona SDK.

Can you guys share some programs that work nicely with Corona?

Which level builder, sprite, animation maker etc do most of you like? I’ll be hanging around more in days to come and would like to get to know all of you guys better

Hey Sid, (I just replied to another one of your posts,)

I don’t use any third party tools regularly currently however I have heard excellent things about Physics Editor.

I can say that for a text editor TextMate has been my favorite to date.

There’s also Level Editor and Sprite Helper, neither of which I have tried (I plan to soon) which are both very popular.

If your interest is in interactive story books (did I remember that right?) then you may also want to look into Kwik, I hear it is wonderful for that purpose.

See a list here, which includes Kwik; http://www.anscamobile.com/corona/tools/

Hi Peach,

I have seen the 3rd party tools forum and they do indeed look great! I guess my question was more of which tools are obsolete or will be because of corona sdk coming out with it’s own versions. Like with Director class, you guys have Storyboard now which is supported by corona. I was trying to see if there were other tools heading in that direction so I don’t waste time and learn or pay for something that will be replaced :).

I will continue to check the what’s new section of the forum. I am really excited to get going with Corona. You guys are great!

Ah I see!

No, I don’t believe any of the third party tools are going to become obsolete any time soon. (Why mess with perfection?)

I am glad you’re excited; Corona is awesome. I’ve been using it a long time now and still find myself staying up until the early hours of the morning because I’ve gotten too into a new project to go to sleep
