New user - cannot get app to install on device

Hey folks,

Forgive my ignorance as a relative noob to iOS development, but after hours and hours of messing around, I have not been able to successfully get a sample app to install on my iPad.

I am working on a Windows PC, and am using the remote Macincloud service to build the iOS app.

As far as I can determine, I have all the certificates set up, including the provisioning certificate for the app in question (one of the sample Corona apps).

I have installed Apple’s “iPhone Configuration Utility” for Windows on my machine.

I can see my iPad on the list of devices, and can drag over the provisioning certificate and the built app on to the Configuration Utility – all goes fine.

However, when I click “install” for the app, after a few seconds I get the message “Could not install application on device. Error: A signed resource has been added, modified, or deleted.”

I am really at a loss as to what to do next.

Can anyone offer any advice? (gratefully received!)

Thanks  [import]uid: 60457 topic_id: 24726 reply_id: 324726[/import]

Can ANYONE offer any advice on this??

After another 2 more days of frustration, I STILL cannot get an application to install successfully on my iPad.

I have just done the following:

  1. In Key Chain, deleted all the existing certificates relating to Apple Development.

  2. Created a new CSR via Key Chain and uploaded it to the Apple Development Portal - “Certificates” tab.

  3. Downloaded the resulting new certificate from the portal.

  4. Double-clicked the new certificate to add it to the Key Chain (2 certificates - 1 public key, 1 private key)

  5. Added the UUID of my iPad to the “Devices” section on the portal.

  6. Created a new App ID for “Egg Breaker” demo app, with app ID suffix of “*”

  7. Created a new Development Provisioning Profile, selecting my certificate, the app id, and my iPad device.

  8. Downloaded the newly created Development Provisioning Profile.

  9. Double clicked the new Development Provisioning Profile, to load it into the Organizer (“Provisioning Profiles” section).

  10. Dragged the new Development Provisioning Profile on to the iPhone Configuration Utility (“Provisioning Profiles” section).

  11. From within iPhone Conf. Utility, clicked my iPad device, “Provisioning Profiles” tab, and clicked “Install” next to the new Dev.Prov.Profile.

  12. Confirmed that the profile has installed correctly on the iPad by checking “Settings -> General -> Profiles”.

  13. Closed/relaunched Corona, opening the demo “Egg Breaker” project.

  14. Selected “File -> Build -> iOS” from the Corona menu.

  15. Selected “Build for: Device”, “Supported Devices: Universal”, “Code Signing Identity” = the newly created Dev. Prov. Profile.

  16. Clicked “Build”.

  17. Once built, I dragged the whole .app folder onto the iPhone Conf.Utility, “Applications” tab.

  18. Selected my iPad device, the “Applications” tab, and clicked “Install” next to the “Egg Breaker” app which is now showing.

  19. After about 5 seconds, I get an error message back which reads: “Could not install application on device. Error: A signed resource has been added, modified, or deleted.”

AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!!

Or should I just go back to coding in PHP and write-off the last few days of frustration?!!
** ANY ** advice will be gratefully received…

If anyone has experience of using Macincloud and Corona together, and can help me get ANY one of the sample Corona apps to install on my iPad, 50 DOLLARS is yours… (via PayPal)

For the sake of closure, I thought I would post the outcome of this issue for the benefit of the community.

After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, this whole thing seemed to come down to idiosyncrasies and inconsistencies with the iPhone Configuration Utility.

Taking this (useless!) app out of the equation, and using the fantastic (and free) Diawi service to load the app wireless onto my devices (http://www.diawi.com), the problems magically vanished.

It’s also a great way to distribute alpha/beta versions of your apps to testers.
