The site will have a video section called “PL4YER TUBE” where we showcase youtube trailers of your app. Below are some of the features coming to PL4YER.com

  2. Marketplace (sell/buy source codes,assets)
  3. App hosting (unlimited apps, unlimited emails, etc)
  4. PL4YER Tube for your yourtube game play

and many more features.

I would like to know of anyone is interested in helping me with site such as reviews etc. Anyways, it’s 3am, gotta get some sleep :).

You’re going to have quite a challenge getting getting good google search results with that domain name. I thin you have a great idea here, but I would suggest another name that’s more brandable and will rank better in google. [import]uid: 7116 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 89867[/import]

Nice concept, plenty of people doing that now so you should have some luck with it.

I agree on the domain name though, that name is just odd. Typing this, I can’t rememeber what you put 4player, or something. (Now I’m looking at it OHHHH it’s pl4yer., using the 4 as an A).

Branding is going to be hard, I’ve met plenty of people who use names that are too complicated and wonder why the traffic hits and exposure is so low.

Just something to think about before you fully commit. Keep in mind, people have been very very wrong before with odd website names that work. 4chan comes to mind off top of my head (because of the #4 hah).

@AlexGreene Hi, serp won’t be a problem with this domain name. I am surprised that you think PL4YER is not a good name for gaming related business :).

@nicholasclayg Hi Nicholas, I think the only thing better than PL4YER is PLAYER but there’s no way I can get that name :). Branding wouldn’t be a problem if you dump money into it (not saying I am though). I’m not creating this site as a an income stream but just because I love everything about games and want to build a site to help everyone in the biz.

Just take a look in a couple of weeks and see the direction I’m going with this :).

If you feel confident in that name, than I offer no opposition. I was simply offering my thoughts. When I personally hear the name PL4yer, I don’t think of an app community site. At the very least I think of a hardcore gaming site, but player has many other meanings. It just doesn’t strike me as a brand-able name.

That said, as long as you put hard work into creating the site, it really doesn’t matter so much what the name of the site is. [import]uid: 7116 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 90020[/import]

@AlexGreene I agree, it just depends on how much effort you want to put in :). I want my site to be a general gaming site, not just apps. Again, this is more of a labor of love. I have a main business that deals with custom software for the automotive industry. I just want to bring something extra to the gaming community and game developers. I mean we will offer hosting where you get your own cpanel to handle your own domain name websites. Wouldn’t that be better than most app host companies out there where they limit the number of apps you can host? My service will be free in the beginning and maybe $5/mo down the road once we’re established. Nothing is set in stones just yet though

Sounds great, can’t wait to see the finished product! [import]uid: 7116 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 90036[/import]

Good luck! [import]uid: 10389 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 90067[/import]

@Waulok Thanks :slight_smile: [import]uid: 7475 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 90084[/import]

The site sounds like it will be interesting, the url is not solid by any means but that, as you’ve noted, is not the be all and end all.

“Techority” isn’t a solid url by any means but with decent SEO it ranks for a number of different searches.

PL4YER could be branded quite nicely too, I think.

Good luck!

thx Peach :). I figured wth, I’ll need to promote my game once it’s done anyways so why not have a site for the rest of the developers. We have one thing in common and that is the love for making games regardless of which tools suits us best at the moment. By no means am I out to compete with other sites such as touch arcade or anything but if we have our games in more than one places, the better. Plus, I am trying my best to keep everything free until the site gets big enough that it needs more power to operate :).

I figured for developers who need to keep their costs down to a minimum, they can use the free web hosting service. Though it’s nowhere near the amount of space that they can purchase else where, it’ll be plenty of space to host their apps. They will get full control to set up their own domain, emails, sub-domains, ftp etc just like a regular host. They will also have their games on our site at no charge and by simply entering their app id (apple app store for now), it will pull the metadata from apple to auto fill the images, descriptions and links to the app store so people can download.

Just another way to promote and getting our games out there. I’ll post more info once it’s near completion.

You guys can start adding your games right now. It’s not completely finished yet as there are other features that need to be added. Adding your game is fast, just register and submit an app then enter the itunes id and you’re set. Everything else is automated.

Hey Sid, the site looks nice. I like it. Here’s some changes I would like to see, coming from a user that would like you to succeed

-I’m not too crazy about the sliding categories at the top. Can you combine them all into a drop down list called “categories” or something? I’m sure once you start adding features such as the Forums and you need more real estate, that sliding menu bar will be a pain for users to use.
-Developers only forum is great, but why not public forums too? Maybe make the developers forum a sub forum. I know public forums are difficult to start and maintain though (through experience lol)
-Will you be adding Android?

I guess that’s it for now
[import]uid: 31262 topic_id: 22540 reply_id: 90494[/import]

Hi Aaron, thanks for the feedback. I will change the sliding categories for sure as more things are added :). I know what you mean about forums lol. Android will be supported soon.

oh and the logo and color scheme will change once I have all the modules in place. I’ll post here as more changes are made.

thanks,

MBD, I’ve seen this post bump a number of threads now, some almost a year old.

Please make your own thread to promote your service; just don’t bump old threads or hijack, OK?

Thanks,
