We require Snow Leopard (10.6).

I understand that snow leopard is required for Xcode and Ios builds - will it be possible to run corona simulator / or android builds from 10.5.x in the future? [import]uid: 34829 topic_id: 4851 reply_id: 21726[/import]

I don’t think so because they upgraded their minimum system spec to 10.6 a while ago. Before that Corona was working on 10.5.8 as I started with it, but now you need 10.6.

I don’t see this as a problem, as the 10.6 upgrade CDs are so damn cheap, it makes you wonder. [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 4851 reply_id: 21728[/import]

Sorry, it used to be possible to run on 10.5, but we’ve since started using features that only exist on 10.6. Also, with our most recent release, some have noticed crashes about libcrypto.0.9.8. Apple has made it unusually hard to ship backwards compatible programs the way they link programs that use this library.

Thanks for replying.

As to the upgrade price to 10.6 - that is not the reason I haven’t upgraded.

I’m using a macbook with 1gb of ram. Upgrading to 10.6 would probably mean upgrading to more ram which makes it a bit more expensive and problematic.

I should have my development pc ready soon (with lots of ram) - so developing for android with the new windows beta should be fine. [import]uid: 34829 topic_id: 4851 reply_id: 21922[/import]

Generally speaking, the trend over the past decade has been that Apple’s Mac OS X upgrades run faster and better on the same hardware if they allow you to upgrade. I would say 10.5 might have been the exception depending on your hardware. Hence, 10.6 was billed as their ‘optimization’ release and generally increased speed, lowered memory profiles, and reduced disk space usage.
