No ads: anyone making money by just selling an app?

Title says it all really: is there anyone out there able to get Android users to spend actual money on their apps (even up to $5), or has everyone gone the in-app adverts route?

Hi, we are a small game studio with 2 programmers and one graphic designer. We’ve been able to produce 6 games most of them educational games for children.

You can visit our site at www.remarkable-games.com to see our products, we usually just have a free evaluation version and a full paid version. Planning to go IAP soon but as a policy we are not using ads in education apps, not even the free version. We just limit the content of the free version and hope happy users will upgrade.

To answer your question. YES we have been able to earn money in Android and Amazon. I’m not ready to disclose exact numbers (monthly in the 4 digit range) but you can see our rough numbers on the play market. Amazon has been great for us. We had 3 of our apps featured as free app of the day and the conversion rate between free and paid versions is much higher than play market.

On iOS we had less success and couldn’t really penetrate the top 100 ever… [import]uid: 80469 topic_id: 28399 reply_id: 114642[/import]
