No audio on VIZIO Vtab

Hey everybody!

I had a complaint from a customer that my game, The Secret of Grisly Manor, did not have any audio on his VIZIO Vtab. He had another tablet and it worked fine.

I finally acquired one and can confirm that this is true.

Not only does Grisly Manor not have any audio, but neither does my new game.

I also downloaded the Corona Indie bundle and that also has no audio on the device.

I am assuming that no Corona-built apps have audio.

On a brighter note, I am not having the graphics problems that I am with the Kindle Fire and Nook! [import]uid: 8444 topic_id: 20978 reply_id: 320978[/import]

We’ve seen this problem too. It’s not just us, but we’ve confirmed that some other companies products fail with audio on the Vizio too. We think their audio implementation is buggy and that the OpenAL implementation everybody is using on Android is triggering their bugs. We have tried to reach out to their support, but have not been able to reach anybody helpful so far.

Has there been any resolution on this? Received my first complaint from a customer with a Vizio tablet and none of my Corona apps have sound on their device. [import]uid: 84258 topic_id: 20978 reply_id: 120229[/import]

Sorry, there has not. We tried out the new Vizio Android 3.x update but it is still broken. There is something peculiar/broken in their audio implementation which is not playing well with the common OpenAL implementations out there. (It’s not just us that has this problem with Vizio.) And our attempts to reach out to Vizio have so far not gotten us anywhere.

You might consider adding Vizio to blacklist if this is a serious issue for you.

We have fixed the graphics problems on Kindle and Nook though.
