no result for advertisingIdentifier?

Hi, applovin asked me to send the IDFA

and I thought its   system.getInfo ( “advertisingIdentifier” )

but i do not get any result on my device (iPhone5s)

??

system.getInfo ( “advertisingIdentifier” ) has been removed from the current api.

I guess it was because apple began rejecting apps using it.

Only ad serving apps can use the id.

so whats the problem… i use ads???

And anyone who do not use ads, should just not use that feature.

Dont get it

Several AdNetworks ask for that, to give u high quality ads, with much better ecpm.

And just because a few developers, implemented that and do not use ads it came removed, really??

Corona Team, please give a statement.

The problem was that the AdSupport/ASIdentifierManager class was in the core of corona…

since apple rejects non ad serving apps with references to this class I guess it was a problem to have it there.

But I agree we should have access to it somehow without being enterprise subscribers.

Thanks for the Info about the Core Integration.

Yes defenitly we need that feature… for example as a plugin.

Can Corona Team please say something about.
AdNetWorks… pay much higher if we can provide such Identifier!

I agree. It would be extremely helpful if access to advertisingIdentifier was given back to us in the form of a plugin. I understand the reason for the stopgap approach taken a few weeks ago when the API was removed from the core, but there are many developers who made use of it legitimately for communicating with as networks, and the API should be returned to us in plugin form. An official statement would be very helpful.

Most ad providers are coding in native land and have access to get that themselves.  I suspect that some of these services may not be in native and still need this.  Its been added to the project list to bring back as a plugin, but I have no ETA on it.

Hi Rob,

thanks for ur answer.

Btw. Is there no plan to do applovin as a plugin from Corona Side?
They have way best ecpm for now (im around 10$ instead 1.5$ from other sides) !!!

or a help to improve the applovin.lua i posted in the forum.

chris

I’m not in on any business development things, so I can’t tell  you if we’ve talked with them or not.  I do know we are open to more advertising platforms.

Rob

Thanks, at least there’s an official answer on this.  Someone should update the documentation, I was going nuts before I gave up trying to get it to work.

chartboost needs the IDFA to be able to cap the # of interstitials per hour or day. My app developed with Corona Starter v2014.2189 doesn’t get this IDFA on devices with iOS7, what should I do? wait for this fix or use another ad network for iOS devices?

thanks for your help!
