Not sure what the install base of nooks are. What are developers experiences on here who have had corona powered apps published on that store? [import]uid: 128294 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 322775[/import]
Hello,
Very good question. I am planning to port Wonder Witches over to Nook, and already started the process by signing up and creating the App description, etc… One thing I noticed, is that the review process seems more thorough - they checked the description and pointed out something that I need to change.
They don’t seem to allow ads ad this point, so I might just offer it for 0.99 cents, and see what happens. Or maybe I start with “free” and down the road when IAP becomes available with Corona - that’s an option.
I am curious if someone has experience with a published Nook app and if they can share.

I have 2 corona apps published on the Nook store and sales are pretty constant, more constant than kindle and iOS, 1 of the apps is a Christmas app and it still gets sales every day. [import]uid: 8697 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 90983[/import]
We recently published our third app, and it was the first to be put on all the markets Corona builds for, including the Nook. While sales in general have been dismal, I can report that the Nook is, by far, the best performing of the markets for us. Sales on the Nook are better than 3 times the sales for iOS.
If your app is a hit it will sell well everywhere (like Fire Maple’s Lost City), so why not sell to the Nook people as well. But for those of us just trying to scrounge a sale here and there, the Nook (so far) seems to be our best bet.
Ninja Pig offered some statistics the other day on his twitter feed that there are something in the neighborhood of only 3000 apps available on the Nook. If that is true, while there may be less people to sell to, you have a much smaller pool of apps to compete for their attention with.
As far as the IAP goes, I, personally, wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. Even though Ansca is close to releasing IAP for Android, each market has its own process, and if it isn’t easy to convert their code to the Nook it may just not happen at all. Our strategy looking at IAP alternatives for the Nook is to pursue more of a serialized approach to the content, i.e. sell the content as stand alone sequels or enhanced versions. Kind of like Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Bird one-more-swipe-at-the-pie… [import]uid: 64596 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 90985[/import]
Guys,
How would I be able to offer my apps for Nook too?
Would someone mind telling me exactly what I need to get it?
So I can see if that`s a good way to follow too or if for me (as not US-resident) this would bring any problem.
PS: I do not own a Nook and even do not know where I could get one being here in Argentina/Brazil, etc. Btw I do not have money to buy anything right now too.
Thanks in advance developers,
Rodrigo. [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 90997[/import]
I don’t have a nook either, I trusted Ansca to make the build work and so far no problems. [import]uid: 8697 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 90999[/import]
@cublah - would you mind explaining what you have done better? I did not know that Ansca would build and test something for me…how much would it be?
Thanks, [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 91000[/import]
I just used the emulator, I did test it on kindle though. [import]uid: 8697 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 91010[/import]
So would I trust the simulator only? Am not so fan of this though. :\
And also, what is needed to be able to submit for nook? Register where? How much? Is non-us residents allowed to sell there?
Sorry for the many questions.
Thanks,
Rodrigo. [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 91013[/import]
Rodrigo,
You can find out all those answers at:
https://nookdeveloper.barnesandnoble.com/index.php
They only sell in the U.S. and they only support English (I stripped the other five languages out of my app to avoid approval issues).
I also gleaned this off a page I think only registered developers can access:
International : If you are a company that is not physically present in the USA but wish to sell you apps into the USA from abroad then you must apply and receive a TAX ID (EIN) from the IRS in the USA. This can be obtained through speaking with the IRS and completing a filing a valid SS-4 form. Then following the issuing of the TAX ID (EIN) you can then complete the relevant W8 IRS form.
At this current time we are supporting the following countries : USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Australia. We will be expanding this list over time.
For what it is worth, I also used the simulator and have received no complaints regarding the app yet. -Shane [import]uid: 64596 topic_id: 22775 reply_id: 91015[/import]
@Shane,
So much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time explaining those details.
But as you posted above, so I am unable to sell there anyway being ot of the US and not from any of the available countries. :\
Thanks,

A powerful share, I simply given this onto a colleague who was doing a little evaluation on this. And he in truth purchased me breakfast as a result of I discovered it for him… smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If doable, as you become experience, would you thoughts updating your weblog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this weblog publish!
