Nook Build for Google Play - Don't have a Nook Dev Account

Hi all,

I’m confused about something.

I don’t have a Nook Dev account because I’m based in the UK and you need a US bank account / tax ID to register, which I obviously don’t have.

But - people are buying my apps for Nook via the Google Play store.

Now - in Corona, you can set either Google Play or Nook in the settings when building for Android.

You can only list one APK in the Google Play store, which obviously needs to be the one I create using Google Play in the build settings.

So, what will happen when people buy my Google Play apps for Nook - I have had reports of the device not supporting some of the apps (but weirdly, not all).

I want to be able to offer the app for both Nook and other Android devices but obviously I can’t upload 2 separate files to Google Play so I’m a bit stuck.

Anyone with any experience on this? Have more recent Corona builds covered this so Google Play produced apps will run on the Nook HD / HD+?

Thanks!

Ian

Nook users can now buy regular old Google Play Android apps and run them as if they were a regular old android device.  No need to build for Nook any more unless you want to put it up in the Nook store.

Thanks Rob. I would like to put it in the Nook Store as well but unfortunately you need a US bank account and tax ID and we’re based in the UK so don’t have one. Shame.

Cheers for the info.

Keep in mind that this only applies to the newer NOOK HD and HD+ devices which have been updated to the latest NOOK OS release.  If you want to target NOOK Color and Tablet users you will have to compile specifically for NOOK and find a partner in the U.S. who can onboard your applications as a NOOK Developer.

You can always exclude the older nook tablet and nook color devices from Google Play if necessary.
