Hey guys, well I’ve been accepted and I have downloaded the provision file but I’m a little confused on how to set my Nook color up to test on a mac.
@pdichone or anyone: Can you please post a step by step on how to get your Nook Color working on the mac?
Thanks,
Sid [import]uid: 7475 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94579[/import]
My first Nook submission was rejected. They said my apk was corrupted.
Guess I will rebuild and try again, but they seemed to take a long time to get to it.

ah, that stinks. Prior to submitting my game to B&N, I too experienced that my app failed on the Nook but it worked fine on Android. I think it was a capitalization issue (image or sound file name) but that was in November of last year so the details are fuzzy.

Hello @Sid,
I will try to remember how I did it to get to work on mac.
Download and install android SDK somewhere in your computer.
Install NOOK SDK add-on ( you can find it here https://nookdeveloper.barnesandnoble.com/tools-services/sdk.html
Get your provision file and put it in the root folder of your Nook device (color or tablet) via USB.
At this point, just to be safe, I’d suggest to eject and restart your device. (Turn it off and boot it up again.
Plug your device to your computer using USB port
Open the terminal ( navigate to the platform-tools folder like so ~cd android-sdk-macosx
then cd platform-tools
, ./adb devices
.
NOTE: on my machine I had to use .adb then any command
for it to work. the ./adb devices
will list the serial number of the Nook device you have connected to your computer. If you see a number than you should celebrate.
Try these steps and let me know if it worked for you. I will check back as soon as I can. If all goes well, then I would compile/build a test Nook application and put it in the
Then all you will need to do, once you have put a test apk inside the platform-tools
folder ), just type the following in the terminal ./adb -s1234565 install myGame.apk
. What comes after -s
is the device number you got when you checked if there were any devices connected.
If all goes well you should get a successful install notification.
To test on your Nook device, you will need to restart your device, again, and then once it boots up, go to Click on the
1. Home button ( the n )
2. Apps menu (bottom menus )
3. Then click on the volume notification button (+) until it’s in its fullest, and WHILE HOLDING IT
4. Tap on the top left corner of the device ( where library is )
Voila!! If all goes well, this should take you to the “Extras” screen where you will see your “test” app you installed.
Let me know how it goes. I am sorry if this is too confusing. I may have missed a few things, but this should get you in the right track.
Let me know if it doesn’t work. I will be more than happy to help you.
Thanks.

@pdichone AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for sharing. This is what makes Corona SDK so great :).
I have started the process but stuck on the Nook sdk download from the android terminal. It just says “Preparing to install archives” so I’ll let you know once the process is complete :). BTW, what is the link to your app on Nook? I want to say thank you and buy an app from you

@pdichone
I got to step 6 but no devices were found :(. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sid [import]uid: 7475 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94641[/import]
This was the difficult part for me. I’m developing on Windows but I heard that the Mac users had a tough time with this as well. check out this link provided by B&N: https://nookdeveloper.zendesk.com/entries/20422461-the-complete-guide-to-using-nook-color-tm-in-developer-mode-i-e-for-testing-nook-color-tm-apps
Good luck [import]uid: 38348 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94645[/import]
update: ok after almost tossing my imac out of the window, I decided to take a break and went to buy some coffee :). Came back with a fresh start.
I was able to find the device by doing this step.
then run: ./android update adb This will add “0x2080” to your ~/.android/adb_usb.ini file (I guess it does it automatically because I have never opened this adb_usb.ini file).
The terminal will then show that adb has been update with the following message:
"adb has been updated. You must restart adb with the following commands
adb kill-server
adb start-server
./adb kill-server then
./adb start-server
You will then see a message: * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
Now just type in: ./adb devices from within the /android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools/ folder and you should see your device serial number.
I wish we have a step by step section for all platforms on this forum!
Thanks to @pdichone again for pointing me in the right direction.

@sondlerd thanks for chiming in. Yes for the mac it’s very vaque and after you spend hours researching, you are more prone to making a mistake or missing an important piece of information all together :(.
Thanks,
Sid [import]uid: 7475 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94652[/import]
Hello @Sid, I am glad I was able to at least point you on the right direction, I hope. I am sorry I wasn’t able to follow up right away on your progress yesterday… I had to go run around running errands My sincere apologies, my friend. Aw, that’s very kind of you to wanting to by on of my apps on Nook. Know that you DONT have to buy an app for me for gratitude, that’s what we all do here, but in any case here’s the link, http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/fruit-catcher-magadistudio/1108428184?ean=2940043880635&itm=3&usri=magadistudio

Hi @pdichone No worries and thank you so much for your help. I want to buy it because it will help with the popularity of the app :). I will purchase it now.
Edit: Bought and 5 star ratings given :). It’s actually a fun game, my 3 yo son will love this.
Thanks again,
Sid [import]uid: 7475 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94960[/import]
Thank you @Sid! That’s very kind of you. Yes the game is fun, especially for little ones Do you have games you have developed I could buy and let all my friends know about it? I want to buy yours too! Doesn’t have to be in the barnes and nobles only. Amazon, Google play and app store… give the link and I will buy it and rate it too!
Thank you for your kindness.
Paulo [import]uid: 75258 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 94965[/import]
Hey Paulo, no not yet, I’m still developing my first game :). Hopefully, I will have something to show in a couple of months (new to this game making business) but thank you regardless. Wish you the best with sales in all platforms :().

Hey sondlerd , thanks for the insight.
I am trying to install a build from 704a on my NOOK , and only get a black screen
What was your capitalization issue? mismatched case, or did you convert everything to lower? Would spaces be an issue?
[import]uid: 135765 topic_id: 18335 reply_id: 95855[/import]
I had an image named Title.png and ini my code it was named it title.png. I had no help from the simulator or the nook. I had to look at all of my file names and then search for them in my code, I would love some error handling in Lua but I haven’t looked into it yet. @sonlerd: yes. device has to match the filenames… it has bitten me many a times too.

Hello,
My app got rejected on Nook:
Files - Rejected: The issue has not been fixed yet. You are using a Debug Certificate. Please fix and resubmit.
How do I create a Certificate for Nook?
This is driving me nuts, I cannot find it anywhere…
