Nook Color Texture Memory

I have tested my 3 apps on a Nook Tablet and they ran fine. So I submitted them and all three got rejected for the Nook Color with an error in:

SurfaceFlinger::createSurface()

That was from the logcat output. I run the app on my Nook Tablet and go to EVERY place in the application and don’t have any problems.

Unfortunately the log data that B&N sent doesn’t have any useful info like what file didn’t load, or whether or not it was a texture memory issue or couldn’t find the file, etc.

Since I do not own a Nook Color and it works fine on the Nook Tablet, does anyone know if the max texture size for the Nook Color is smaller than 2048x2048?

Also, is there a total amount of texture memory available, or does the Nook use unified memory for the app and textures?

The B&N Nook documentation is less than helpful. Their “specs” just show total memory and don’t call out details like texture memory size.

I’m afraid I can’t actually answer your question but I can attest that Nooks are bothersome. My game is presently the nook store (Kung Poo Monkey). Some of the people who have downloaded it report that it runs fine. Others indicate that it loads very slowly (like 1 minute). Yet others indicate that it won’t load at all. I cannot explain why the performance varies so greatly. It has caused me to offer the game for free. It’s a real shame too because it’s easier to be noticed on the Nook store… at least as compared to the iOS store.

Good luck. If I can figure anything out I’ll let you know. It may not pertain directly to your issue but the more we can “discover” about the Nook the better.
