Not destroying objects when changing scenes

I have a scene which has a lot of images in it which is references pretty frequently. I wanted to have it so I could load the images before the scene even loads, and then just insert them into it each time I load that scene again.

The issue I’m having is that as soon as I change the scene, it appears the objects are destroyed as when I come back an try to add in again, the app dies and I get a director error.

I could possibly be asking this in the main development forum as I think I may need to do something alone the lines of cloning a display group / object, but thought I would try here first =)

Anyone had to do anything similar, or able to point me in the right direction?
