Not really a techie question

If this is the wrong section please delete, or move or whatever. I could not decide where would be the best place.

I’m close to putting the first version of my first game on the google play store.

I plan for it to be free.(unless it become popular somehow)

I’m wondering as a indie developer if I should even bother going through all the legal procedures. Copyrights, patents(if possible) etc.

The internet seems kind of split as to rather it’s really necessary. Especially if the developer isn’t part of a big studio.  I’m not part of any studio, so it will probably be posted under my own name.

I’m in the US if that matters any

Any thoughts?

thanks for any help

Hi @jmorgan88.  Let’s start with the “Free” question.  On Google Play (and Amazon I think), once you make it free, it has to stay free.  You cannot later charge for the app.  You could add advertising and In App Purchases (provided you are a Basic or higher level subscriber) later, but the app itself would remain free.
