Offline Ads

Hi, im sorry if this is a stupid question but I was wondering if the new inmobi ads had any support for offline ads. The ads work fine right now but if i put my iphone in airplane mode no ads show up and therefore gives the user the same privileges as a user that pays to get rid of the ads completely.

Any ideas?

Why would airplane mode and having ads turn on the full game privileges?

I have IF statements around everything that is privileged or different for the lite version of the game.

if app.paidVersion then
 -- code for the pay version
else
 -- code for the free version
end

--
-- such as
--

if app.paidVersion then
 statusBar.y = 0;
else
 statusBar.y = 48;
 ad.show( ... )
end

The presence of or lack of ads shouldn’t control your features.

It doesnt control game features. My plan is to have an “ad-supported” version and a paid version that doesnt have any ads. So my problem is that if there isnt an internet connection ads will not show and as result users that have the free, ad-supported version will have the same experience as an user that payed to get rid of the ads. good question
if not you could check for Internet connection and if there’s none only let the game run for a few minutes on the free version [import]uid: 7911 topic_id: 13287 reply_id: 48807[/import]

So the only difference between the two is ads?

Advertisers want people to click/tap on their ads. Its kinda pointless to have them offline. If you just want to show something, why not make a few placeholder ads and if you detect the net isn’t reachable, then rotate your own 3-4 ads in the place holder.

Well i dont want to limit the time if there isnt an internet connection because there are a lot of users that have wifi only devices and i dont want to limit their gameplay just to show an ad that they probably wont click anyways.

I had thought about making placeholder ads but i wanted to make sure that there wasnt a better way of dealing with this. I guess this is the best option right now.

Thanks for your suggestions [import]uid: 25938 topic_id: 13287 reply_id: 48815[/import]
