Let me just say that as developers, we constantly struggle with buggy code, missing library calls, late asset deliveries, hardware failures… blah blah blah. But sometimes things just go right. In fact, that’s my new tag line for Corona SDK, “things just go right!”
I started coding my game from scratch one week ago. I have never written a .LUA script before, but I have been coding for… well, a long time. I had some graphics and design stuff for this game I’ve been brainstorming on for a few months, and then last week I stumbled across Corona SDK - by total accident. Downloaded the trial, and…
Jump ahead 7 days, and I literally just performed my first test build image and uploaded it to my iPhone and iPad devices. I’m playing my game right now! I have coded this primarily on Windows, used the Simulator for MyTouch device, and just copied the code over to my Mac and ran it on the iPhone & iPad devices in the simulator. No problem. This is an amazing testament to Corona SDK!
I admit, my game is not finished, but the basic gameplay mechanics are in - and it’s $@&!# thrilling!!! My demographic is my little boy and he sat on my lap and was entranced with what was going on. (Good sign!)
I wanted to start a thread where people could just yell from the rooftops and say, “THIS KICKS ASS!” OK, back to work… I need to design a game icon.
