One sprite, to be displayed (played) multiple times simultaneously ? Possible?

Hi All,

I have one sprite to play an explosion sequence.  My problem is when I needed to play the same sprite on multiple "destroyed " enemies almost simultaneously.  The sprite just seem to jump into the next “destroyed enemy”, prematurely ending the one before it.  

Is there a way I could use one sprite, but play it multiple times simultaneously?
