Is there any option in Corona to set up a multiplayer gaming environment, not a real time thing just a turn by turn game, for free. I noticed pubnub but it seemed like you had to pay for it.

Well Corona Labs actually just cancelled Corona Cloud about a month ago, and one of the features was multiplayer gaming.
You could try using Google Play game services. As far as I know turn by turn works on Android AND iOS, but real time will be Android only.
I’m not sure of the exact details though, maybe the multiplayer isn’t live yet?
About Google Play game services, from what I understand, multiplayer gaming is for Android only, and it’s realtime. It’s possible to use it for turn based games, but it is basically set up for realtime interaction.
