Openfeint approval process confusion // iOS

Hi,

I’m a bit confused about the OF approval process for iOS.

I have the version 1.0 of my game in the App Store ready for sale.
Currently I’ve integrated OF in the version 1.1 that I have ready to send to Apple for review.

As I read, I have to submit the game to OF for approval before sending to Apple. When I click in “Enable iOS App”, OF requests the “App Store Current Version Number” and “Release Date”.

Do these “version number” and “release date” refer to my version 1.0 without OF and the date it was approved by Apple or otherwise they refer to the version 1.1 I’ve just developed with OF and I’ve not sent to Apple yet?

In the case of a new application never sent for review to Apple yet and therefore with no “Release Date”, what would I introduce in these fields?

Thanks a lot

OF approval is for app-specific forums, OFs own feature platform, the cross promotion banners, push notifications and so on. Leaderboards and achievements should work without approval, tho.

afaik the app has to be live in the appstore with OF up and running to be approved. wait till your app is live and then fill out the approval form…

That makes sense but now I don’t understand what the OF sites says (http://support.openfeint.com/dev/submitting-ios-app-4-approval):

“Once your game has been approved, it is posted on the openfeint.com applications list.
For iOs, every day after submission, we scrape the webpage that Apple will have created from the iTunes store with your game’s app id to see if it exists. If it does exist, we know the game is released and we include it in openfeint.com.”

It makes to think that the OF approval is previus to the Apple approval(and release) so the game can’t be live in the App Store.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

don’t know but it sounds pretty clear to me…

“If it does exist, we know the game is released”
means: only apple-aproved apps can be added to OF app list. [import]uid: 70635 topic_id: 12334 reply_id: 45009[/import]

Thanks, that’s right, it needs to be Apple-approved to be added to OF app list. But according to OF you can submit it to OF approval before it is reviewed by Apple. From OF FAQ:

Q: When should I submit my game for OpenFeint approval?
A: As soon as you are ready to submit your game for Apple approval or have completed OpenFeint integration

Then, I don’t know what to put in the OF “Release Date” field if it hasn’t been released by Apple yet.

I’ve just made the question to OF and I already have a response:

"Use the version number of the App that will have OpenFeint in it, and the release date for that version of the App. If you don’t know the exact release date (because you’ll be releasing as soon as Apple approves, for example), give your best guess.

For an App that’s never been released to the App Store, you’d give the version number (probably 1.0) and your best guess as to when it will be released."
