OpenFeint Framerate drop affecting physics engine? Any solutions?

When Openfeint first logs in or does some updates it affects the framerate of the game. By consequence, it affects the physics engine of the game. In my example, it seems to affect forces and frictions.

Has anyone found a workaround to this?
