@MikeHart: Thanks for taking notice. I submitted Doodle Dash! as soon as 1.1 went live, and it didn’t get featured until 1.2 was approved so I’d say about 2-3 weeks. I initially wasn’t putting my hopes in getting accepted so I sort of filled out the form and forgot about it until they ended up contacting me. With that said, I’m not sure of the exact day I submitted it–but 2-3 weeks sounds like a safe bet.
Also, while FreeGameOfTheDay.com isn’t an award, they do screen your app for quality assurance and make sure it integrates well with OpenFeint, so I consider it an achievement nonetheless… so I think that’s what Carlos was getting at with his congratulations.
To put it into perspective, the FGOTD promotion has only been going on for 5 and a half hours now and already I have had over 3,593 new people added to my OpenFeint leaderboard since then (it was at like 29 before the promotion). So that’s a pretty good indicator at how many people are playing the game, and that’s only the people who chose to ‘Enable OpenFeint’ when they first installed it… so… I DEFINITELY consider being accepted by FGOTD an achievement, if anything a stepping stone.
I’m not making any money directly from the promotion day, but it should have an impact on the momentum (I’ll post it as another thread once the promotion is over and any boost in sales has died down).
Another thing is that I’m getting A LOT of ratings/reviews… and I think that’s important for boosting your AppStore ranking and making it more visible to people when it DOES go back to paid status.
@Caros: Thanks for posting the interview and for promoting it on Twitter/Facebook, etc!
Take care everyone, and if you decide to download Doodle Dash! please post a rating/review!
