OpenGL incompatibility issue

Hi,

I try to open Corona Simulator, but there is a window telling me that I need OpenGL 2.1. The confusing part is I already used corona on windows 7, and now I have windows 10.

Can someone tell me please what is wrong? because I need to update my game. I used to have a graphic accelerator installed but now I can’t find it.

Tell us the make and model specifications of your machine.

Also tell us if you are using discrete graphics (make and model) or integrated graphics (make and model).

Last, for now, be sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date.

That sound a lot like you’re using integrated graphics and may not have the latest drivers.

By way of example, I am running:

  • CPU - 6-Core Intel i7 x995 (old by todays standards)
  • OS - Win 10 Home (10.0.17134)
  • Discrete Graphics - nVidia GTX 970 running Driver version 398.36

Oh, and you can use GLView to check what version of OpenGL you’re actually running: http://realtech-vr.com/admin/glview

I seem to remember some forum posts talking about how Windows 10 removed OpenGL drivers for some integrated cards so it’s possible you’re computer could be victim of Microsoft’s decision to not support OpenGL on certain built-in systems.

@roaminggamer’s advice is solid. Do those things to learn what’s going on with your graphics card and then provide the community some information to get better help!

Find it hard to believe any version of the GTX970 doesnt run openGL 2.1. Something else must be going on.

Does your intel CPU perhaps support integrated graphics? Could be it is running your pc on it instead of the GTX970 and that it doesnt support openGL 2.1.

Check your BIOS and make sure you run only the GTX970 (not shared mode if such option exist).

@anaqim - :)  Those are my specs and I’m good to go.  We still need to know the OP’s specs.

Ha! Thats what I get for posting from my phone while waiting in the car for my wife

Am I the only one to notice the date (and version) on the sim?

@sgs, I don’t believe we’ve made any significant changes since 3184 with regards to checking the OpenGL driver requirements, so while I would highly recommend the OP update to 3326 or later since they won’t be able to deploy to Google Play if they don’t, I don’t know that it’s important in solving this particular issue.

I noticed, but I figured I’d let it rest for now. 3184 is way back.

More the date than the version

12/8/2017 is the build date for 3184. It’s two public builds old and was released 12/18 or so.

I’ll just revert to Windows 7.

Thank you all for the help
