So my other post is getting no traction let’s try this one. Running Parallels 8, Windows XP, sdk build 2088. I get the above error for file C:\Program Files\Corona Labs\Corona SDK\Corona.Debugger.exe. Any thoughts??? prayers???
Hey.
So let’s make sure I understand the situation.
-
your running a Mac?
-
you are virtualizing windows xp via parallels?
-
you are running corona on windows xp?
Do I have that right?
Yes.
Right.
May I ask why you are running corona on a virtual machine ? Parallels allows you to share files (and apps) between win/Mac so why don’t you enable that, then run the corona simulator on Mac?
I’m just curious as to why you are doing this, as I think there are better options available to you.
Let me know… If not we can discuss fixing up your virtual set up
I support several versions of windows concurrently as well as mac and now mobile. I find the macbook pro running parallels is more stable and versatile. I spend more time in windows developing and working with data so I just naturally wanted to develop using corona in windows. I thought I would be able to use the same environment for development and testing as advertised. I guess I will have to get used to the mac.
What other options do you think are available to me?
Thanks for the additional info, I understand.
Just to clarify, we don’t claim to support running corona in a virtual environment. However I will certainly try to help you do that.
Ok so you were able to run corona in your virtualized windows environment prior to the graphics 2.0 release yes?
The more information you give me will result in a better chance of us getting this working for you. Can you provide me with the specs of your macbook also please?
Thanks
Yes I was able to run my app prior to graphics 2.0.
My macbook pro is a 17 inch mid 2009. 8 GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, OS X Lion 10.7.5.
Thanks.
I have started to convert my app in the mac environment where I don’t get the error. I don’t think we will need to get it running in my virtual environment.
Got it.
Ok so here is what I am going to do.
I’m going to install parallels tomorrow on my Mac and install windows 8 (I don’t have xp).
I’ll install corona also and see if it runs.
I really think this is an opengl driver issue on your xp installation, however trying this myself will make this easier to debug and help you.
Bear in mind that I am located in Ireland and its 12.27am here so my next response will be tomorrow afternoon (my time) after I have got it all set up.
I hope you understand. Have patience and I’ll do my upmost to get this working for you.
PS: I believe my parallels version is 8.0
Thanks
Edit: I am still willing to help you get it working on your virtual environment if you wish.
Ok.
Thanks.
Hey @rvergin3
Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this. I found it hard to find the time to install and test this.
I tested under the following conditions:
-
iMac 27", 16gb ram, 1gb Nvidia Geforce GTX 675MX 1024 MB, 256gb SSD.
-
Running 10.9 Mavericks.
-
Parallels V8.
-
Windows 8 via parallels with the following settings:
4gb ram, 256mb Gfx, 64gb expanding disk, direct 3D 10.
- Corona Simulator V2100.
I ran both the Corona simulator and Corona debugger using the hello world sample app as my test case and both situations ran fine, no issues.
Danny,
Thanks for the update. I downloaded v2100 and still get the error. I am able to work on my mac though. I wonder if it is XP or parallels or nvidia?
Thanks,
Reed
Thats a good question.
May I ask some more questions?
-
What version of parallels are you running?
-
Does the Corona Simulator run? (ie the non-debugger version)
-
See rob’s post (2nd post) http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/41872-corona-simulator-doesnt-run-on-my-computer/
If you run that utility, does it say your OGL version is at least 2.0 + ? (Ignore this task if the answer to question #2 is yes)
- If the answer to question #2 is no, do any Corona graphics v1 builds work on parallels for you?
I believe we still have some narrowing down to do before we can point the blame at any specific component just yet.
Please be as descriptive as possible with your replies, it will help speed up the process.
Cheers
The parallels version is
Build 8.0.18608
(Revision 898384; July 17, 2013)
Yes the Corona Simulator runs from the exe and I am able to load my project and run it.

Ok, leave this with me and i’ll try my best to get to the next step. (Just a reminder, I am located in Europe GMT timezone)
Thanks
OK.
Thanks.
Just throwing this out there…
Try the advice given in the below links (in order)
Worth a shot I reckon
- this is the path C:\Program Files\Corona Labs\Corona SDK. I don’t see anything unusual.I will try number 2 now.
- nothing wrong with registry.
Thanks,
Reed
