PayPal Module Required - Paid Assignment

I need a member of the community to produce a pure Lua based module to take PayPal payments.

I believe you may be able to use the original Gremlin Interactive open sourced Corona Plugin as the basis for the new code.

I don’t have Enterprise and so the solution must work using the free Pro tier.

This is obviously be a paid (fixed price) assignment.

Please contact me if you already have the module or can create it for me.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Added link for PayPal Restful API as per reply from Ed below

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/

I’m pretty sure there is a reason the Gremlin plugin is native and not pure-Lua.  However, it look like PayPal provides a REST API and uses OAUTH 2.0, so you may not be entirely out of luck  on this:

(Disclaimer: I’m only providing this info to further the discussion.  I don’t personally do this kind of work.)

Hi Ed,

There is definately a PayPal Restful API and I have had a quick look at the docs and it doesn’t appear to be overly difficult.

Unfortunately, this is not my area of expertise but I am pretty sure that with enough time I could probably figure it out.

I am sure that there are many capable developers in the community who area of expertise this is, and who would be able to develop the module in a fraction of the time that it would take me.

I am hoping that one of these capable developers (who undertakes this kind of paid work) will read the post and get in touch.

Thanks for putting the links to the PayPal docs - I should have put them in my original post and in fact I will edit the original post and put the link in.

I might be able to bring my former plugins (PayPal, Kiip etc) to the Corona plugin store (so non-enterprise users can avail of them), for free. Depends on time though, which is short. (I was formerly of Gremlin Interactive).

Hi Danny,

I did in fact send a message to you on your post earlier today ( https://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/57754-corona-developer-app-development-and-plugin-expert-available-for-hire/ ).

I would really be amazing if you could bring your previous Gremlin Interactive PayPal Plugin to the Corona Plugin store and then all of the community would reap the benefits. Especially as it has previously been out in the field and well tested and debugged.

I do appreciate that time is both precious and short  but it would be a life saver if you could do this.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to push this forward.

Thanks in advance.

I thought Apple didn’t allow direct purchases from apps? So, this is an Amazon-only concept? Sorry to ask here, but it seems relevant.

We are talking about selling ‘real’ products and not in app purchases - off course both Apple and Google allow this!

Apple and Google IAP is for virtual goods only. If it’s a real world physical product, you can use other payment services.

Hi Danny (infusedreams),

So do you think you will be able to find the time soon to bring over the old Gremlin PayPal Plugin to the new Plugin Store?

Thanks in advance

Anil

PayPal or BrainTree plugin would be gold!

I should now be available for this project. OP, want to send me an email to discuss further?

hello [at] infusedreams [dot] com

Thanks

Hi Danny,

I thought you were going to bring the former plugins to the Corona Plugin Store for free, when you had some free time, so that the whole community could share - is this not the case?

Cheers

Hey

Unfortunately, i’m not currently able to do this for free due to personal reasons.

However… I can still do this if one of the two items below become true:

  1. Corona plugin store supports paid plugins. They will then be released for a nominal fee (perhaps $10 per plugin)

  2. A community funded effort is put forward, to pay for the work and release the plugin to the store for free. We aren’t talking much, just a fair amount for the work involved.

Basically, I need to eat

Thanks

Hi Danny,

I totally agree with you and it is only fair and right that hard working developers are paid fully for the fruits of their labours.

I am led to believe that Paid Plugins, even though they are on the Roadmap, they are not coming any time soon so option 1 is not a goer in the short to near term.

That leaves option 2 - a community funded effort to enable the plugin to be made free on the Store. Could you come up with a total figure that would be required to achieve this and I will see if I post a ‘crowdfunding’ request on the forum to see if the required funds can be raised by any and all interested parties.

Many Thanks

I sent you a PM regarding the target funds and what it would take to complete the tasks at hand.

I have tried emailing him offering to pay for this and did not get a reply. Did anyone else get this resolved?

Hello Warren.

Sorry for not getting back to you, I’ve been slammed lately.

I’ll get back to your email this weekend. Thanks again

Hi Danny,

I never got that PM and so never sent out a ‘crowd funding’ post on the site as didn’t know what the target cost would have been.

My project was cancelled shortly afterwards and so I didn’t really chase it up.

Good to see that maybe Warren can start up the crowd funding for this project and make it available to all the community.

Thanks

I’m in the process of setting up a crowd funding campaign on kickstarter, to bring all of my previous plugins to the Corona plugin store.

I’ll update when the campaign is live.

Thanks
