Performance Issues

Are you guys even close to fixing the known performance issues? Has any progress been made at all?

I ask because I’m seriously interested in purchasing this, but the lack of any progress in fixing these issues is off putting. Ansca has released one major update since Lime went live, and now we have the nightly builds, yet there’s been no mention of fixing the issues.

I’ve been following Lime for some time, and I really like what you’ve created, but the fact that these issues still exist worries me.

Hey,

In the last Corona update to 268 there was a performance boost because of a sound system bug that was fixed and in version 2.7 we introduced a basic culling system to again get some speed gains however the main thing we are waiting on is for Ansca to implement a proper culling algorithm directly in Corona.

Ansca have the viewer app that I created which includes a bunch of maps that will help them test speed etc.

I haven’t had much chance to play with the daily builds yet though so will give them a go in a bit and report back. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 6892 reply_id: 24193[/import]

graham, have you considered using different culling methods based on the type of scrolling?

eg a 1-way scroller (monster dash etc) should be a lot simpler to cull than a 4-way scroller, since you only need to check columns either side of the screen (dependent on scroll speed)

it would be good to have optimized methods for the various type of scrollers. maybe the particular scrolltype could be set in a config somehow

Thanks for the update Graham. I hope Ansca address this soon, as I’d really like to purchase Lime. [import]uid: 5702 topic_id: 6892 reply_id: 24198[/import]
