Picker wheel graphics

Hi, I just wanted to ask if there are any copyright issues when using the picker wheel with the iOS theme on a non-iOS device. Are the graphics copyright protected? I am currently using a modified version of the image(gray scale and trimmed to suit the style of the app) and I am building for the Kindle Fire HD.

Are there any issues with this? Is there a design standard for Amazon/Android UI elements? [import]uid: 109535 topic_id: 34030 reply_id: 334030[/import]

I’m pretty sure the graphics used by Corona SDK widgets were created in whole by Corona Labs and are provided for your use. I’m not sure if Apple has a patent on Picker Wheels as that is not a standard UI element on Android. Let me ask that question of the team.

That said… Picker Wheels are alien in android. I tried to test an app of mine that used picker wheels and the feedback was that they didn’t get the picker wheel. It’s not brain surgery, so they should be able to figure it out.

Good question to start the Sunday morning!

Hi Rob, thanks for the response. That is an interesting point about Android users. I have an older not-so-smart phone which runs neither iOS nor Android and it uses a picker wheel for its built in alarm widget. I wonder who did come up with the idea first. Anyway, they seem ideal for setting a timer which is exactly what I need in my app. I will have to get some feedback from Android and Amazon users to see if the picker wheel confuses anyone. Thanks again. [import]uid: 109535 topic_id: 34030 reply_id: 135568[/import]
