Playing a musical note

Hi there,

I am trying to find a way of playing a musical note of a specific pitch without loading a whole number of different sound files. Is there a way of doing this in Corona??

Many thanks in advance for any help. I think I have checked all the docs.

Hey Martin,

maybe something out of the undocumented audio api would help: https://coronalabs.com/blog/2011/07/27/the-secretundocumented-audio-apis-in-corona-sdk/

I just tried it with an mp3 file, and it is playing at 600% speed in the simulator. :slight_smile:

you might be able to load one sound, and change the pitch to match the notes you want to play.   Notes will sound shorter in duration if you raise the pitch, though.

Thanks for the help. I think I will go with Rob’s negative until they publish the api officially. I have found a nice set of small mp3 files with appropriate tones.

In case anyone is interested the University of Ohio has produced some very nice instrument tones in all note values for free download. Not sure of the copyright terms, certainly they need referencing.

oops, sorry Jay, it was Iowa, I always get those states mixed up:) Also it says they are available without restriction.
