Please change the Corona tool to allow building without opening a project

I am currently trying to use os.exit() on an suspend event. In the Corona software we are forced to open/run an application before we can build it. Then when building it suspends the running application and this causes the tool to close before build begins.
My question is why would you force the application to run before you build?
