Popular app genres 2016~

Hello all,

It would be great to have a discussion about what type of app genres are popular today to get a grasp of the market and what people want.

In terms of games. Platformers, tower defenses and quizes will probably always be popular. What do you think?

In terms of useful apps, these might be saturated unless you come up with a new awesome app idea? What do you think of the idea of creating an app idea that already exist, but with a twist, say you want to create another flashlight, or browser, or calculator etc. Apps that exist but you can always create another type of it. Do you think such an app could take in new users?

Any other app genres you think will do great in the market this year?

Feel free to speak your mind.

In my opinion for art – Low Poly. Love this art style and anyone i show it to really likes it.

I was actually working on a plugin for corona to let the user pick an image and make it low poly. But then clients came in and asked for some work to be done so i couldn’t continue. @Alex@Panc said he might start this project also. I guess it’s a matter of who has the time first.

For game types – Just touch and go. Like flappy bird. People like to retry a game without having to press the screen 10-15 times just to reply the level or the game. Something like “Hoppy naut” maybe.

Yes sounds good with pixelated art.

Would be great to see that plugin working!
