Comparing TableView scrolling and Scene transitions in iOS with their counterparts in a native Corona app, where the iOS ones are smooth and absolutely perfect, the Corona ones seem somewhat jerky and imperfect.
- If you let a TableView scroll slowly downwards, it “jerks” a bit a couple of times per second
- Scene transitions also “jerk” a couple of times
- Effects like Top/Bottom-bounce and movement in general does not quite seem to reach up to iOS standards
I know Corona does not use native iOS controls, but simulates them manually through OpenGL rendering. But when it’s possible to have full frame complex 3D games with OpenGL, surely a measly scrolling TableView or Scene transition must be possible to perfect?
The goal must be that Corona app users should not be able to tell that the app wasn’t made natively.
Could someone in Corona staff shed some light on this? Does iOS somehow prevent you from achieving perfect scrolling? (Is what we have today the best possible result? Or can you in fact make them better?)
