Primary Development Environment - OS X or Windows?

Hello all.  I am trying to do a better job of connecting with folks in the community.

I develop primarily using a PC running Windows 7.  I believe that most of you however are OS X users.  This means my tools and perspective are a bit different from yours.  However, I could be wrong.  Maybe the split is 50/50 or maybe there are a lot of Windows developers…  I just don’t know.

So, instead of wondering I thought I’d check.  This post includes a simple survey. Please participate by checking the box next to your primary development environment.

Note 1: This is not meant to start a war or discussion of which environment is better.  I believe that a person should use what one is familiar and comfortable with.  Its about getting work done, period.

Note 2: If you select ‘OTHER’ please elaborate below.  I’m sure we are all interested in what you use and how.

Note 3: I have differentiated OS X and Windows versions because there are some (tool chain; not Corona) compatibility issues on different versions of operating systems.  I like to take this into account when answering questions.

Please participate.  Its not hard and it will help me (and others) a lot to know a little bit more about the make up of the community.

This is my last ping on this thread, then I’ll let it rest.

So far, only 13 votes have been received with a 7/6 split in favor of Windows.

This really surprises me as it feels like every person I answer questions for is a Mac user (when we drill down that far in the back and forth questions.).

Thanks to those who answered.  And for those who did not… I am so disappointed.  One little click.  That’s all I’m asking for.

You can reduce my disappointment now   Go to the top and click your OS.

Thanks!

Just “voted” (OS X 10.10, for what it’s worth…though I am considering getting a Surface Pro 3 to keep in the bag I commute with, which would significantly increase my time on Windows), but if you don’t regularly view the forums on the mobile site (as I do), it’s worth noting that the poll doesn’t show in that view, which could account for some of your non-participants.

Scratch that last reply - I reloaded the post on my iPhone and the poll showed up. Looks like it was just a parially-loaded page causing the poll not showing up the first time. Sorry for the misinformation.

Just voted as well. I finally upgraded to OS X 10.10 a few weeks ago because of Corona requirements.

Because I use things like webview, text input, social sharing, I haven’t built my app for Windows and have no immediate plans to do so. (If I do go in that direction, I would probably hire someone to fill in the few missing pieces.)

Just voted.

We use PC when building standard app with normal Corona. We use Mac when building with Enterprise. But we always prefer working on PC.

Hope this help
