Problem with text/labels on OSX simulator

Hello,

I’ve been using the Windows version fine, however, I just purchased a Mac and have installed corona and have seen some problems with the example apps (probably my laptop playing up).

Corona version: 2012.840
Mac OSX: 10.7.4 (Lion)
Java: 1.6.0_33-b03-424 (32 & 64 bit)
Xcode: 4.3.3
Sample code: ButtonEvents

When loading ButtonEvents the red, yellow and grey buttons load however the text on the red one is completely garbled and no other text is present on the page. i.e. None of the button labels are showing.

The same example code works fine on the Windows simulator. I see this on both iPhone, iPad and Android devices within the simulator.

I am wondering if I need to re-install or something is broken on the laptop. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Jacko

Hi Jacko,

I am not having this issue on my Mac. Are you getting any errors in the terminal?

Do you only have that one version of Corona installed on the Mac? [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 28329 reply_id: 114444[/import]

Hi Peach,

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I only have one version of Corona installed. I also uninstalled it, re-downloaded and installed again as I wondered if some how the previous install was corrupt.

No errors in the terminal which is strange! I’m starting to think I have an OS or hardware issue as some of my downloads and system updates were downloading and then saying “invalid checksum” on verification. Depressing since the system is 6 days old. :frowning:

Thanks,

Did a full system memory check and it passed. Re-installed Java and the problem still exists. Not far off doing a full system re-install. I didn’t notice this yesterday but I see this in the terminal:

2012-07-07 10:38:53.177 Corona Simulator[270:2403] *** WARNING: Method userSpaceScaleFactor in class NSView is deprecated on 10.7 and later. It should not be used in new applications. Use convertRectToBacking: instead.

Thanks for the reply.

Forgot to say, it is a retina display. Perhaps this is having some impact on displaying the text properly? [import]uid: 155699 topic_id: 28329 reply_id: 114542[/import]

Hey again,

Retina! Yeah, OK, this was mentioned recently - right click on the Corona Simulator app (in the Corona SDK folder) and then choose “Get Info”. There should be a checkbox in there for “Open in Low Resolution”. Tick that.

Let me know how that goes, please

Hi Peach,

Yes, thanks… That worked a treat!! It also appears that the other issues may be related to some sort of incompatibility between the MBP and the wifi AP.

Thanks heaps for that suggestion.

No worries Jacko, glad that did the trick.

I hope you can figure the wifi issues; I’m afraid I’m no expert in that department
