Problems building .apk (iOS is fine) - due to Map failed?

Hi guys,

HELP!!!

I’m trying to build for the android and have been having loads of problems, and I’m hoping that someone maybe able to help me out.

Basically, I’ve made an app that’s simply a film you access via clicking on a button – simple stuff.

I’ve built and tested on my iPhone/iPad and it works really well, no problems at all, the audio/video is great and job done.

Now…. The problem is… when I build for my Android. I’m using the built in keystore as well as one I’ve created and whenever I build it on my MAC it says ‘Failed to copy C:\ user…………. MyCoronaActivity-signed-aligned.apk to C:\Apps\VideoTest.apk due to Map failed

I did read on some of the forums that I had to download a different version of Java, I did this and I still get the same error.

If I build it on the MAC I don’t get any errors, however, when I try to download it onto any Android it doesn’t install? Really strange???

As I say, if I build for IOS it creates the file without any problems, installs and works a treat, however I’m really having these HUGE issues while trying to build for my Android, and its driving me nuts.

The app is quite big, 400MB, however I’ve made apps bigger without any issues so I doubt this is the problem.

I’m going to try on another machine this evening to see if I get the same error however I think I will.

ANY help would be great. I don’t really understand how it can be fine for one device but not the other???

Thanks everyone,
Chris

Hi Chris,
In order to solve this, let’s work through the “could be” cases first. Can you please attempt to install the Corona sample code “HelloWorld” on your Android device, using the steps you’re currently using? Then report back what happens, and if it fails, whether you receive the same error message.

The sample project is located in the Corona SDK application directory:
SampleCode > GettingStarted > HelloWorld

Thanks,

Hey Brent,

Thank you so much for getting back to my post, very kind of you.

I’ve installed quite a few apps on my Android as well as my iOS, so it was really strange?

HOWEVER, I’m pleased to say, I tried building it at home, and just installed it at work on my Android and woooohooooo, it works!!! all I can think of is it ‘may’ have been effected by some kind of firewall? I dont really know how this made a difference, however maybe something internal and technical prevented something during the build stage?

Thanks again for your help mate and have a brilliant day.

Cheers,
