I am wondering what most people use to create their background images, and say animals, or little face etc. Do you draw and upload and then design? I am only familiar with Web Design, making boxes and easy things, nothing detailed like app games use.
Most people use a program like Adobe Photoshop to do bitmap level graphics or Adobe Illustrator to do vector graphics. There is a free package called “The Gimp” for doing bitmap level graphics and Inkscape for vector graphics.

I have used GIMP in past for websites. I will need to look into how to draw things. I was looking at the program Spine (http://esotericsoftware.com/) and that seems amazing. But it is actually making the character I am confused about. I watched some videos of people drawing on paper and then uploading online and the painting them, but I am new to this.
