Progress on Windows

Hi there,

We need to know for future projects what the expected time frame will be before we have a final/stable non BETA version. We have some upcoming projects in which a Windows Executable is a  requirement.

The tests we have done so far are with mixed results, i don’t see a lot of actions in the windows forum.

So i am just wondering when the next step will be for the Corona sdk windows export.

Thanks

We don’t have a time estimate yet when we’ll take it out of beta, but so far, all of the features that the Windows version provides right now are considered stable.  We don’t have a hard-set roadmap of what features we plan on doing next because its based on demand, which changes over time.  For example, we’ve delayed game controller support in favor of native TextField/TextBox support a month ago since the demand for it out-weighed the other at the time.  Also, please understand that adding features to a platform takes time and Corona’s Android/iOS platforms had a 5 year head start.  So, the more features your app *requires*, the longer you’ll likely have to wait.  And some features that you are used to having on mobile, such as ads and direct facebook integration, have no equivalent on PCs… meaning that you’ll have to redesign your app for this.

The next major feature we’ll be providing on Windows is game controller support.  We plan on delivering this sometime this month (October).  It’ll support both DirectInput and XInput (aka: Xbox) controllers.
