Publishing Apps for a customer on their name

Hi all,

I have a doubt, and I do not know where to post it, I hope this is the correct forum area.

I have a couple of apps on development for a couple of customers. One of the customers already noted that he wanted the app to be published under their name on the Apple App Store. It is a pity because then we won’t be featuring the app we created under our own name on the app store but is understandable. I understand also then that they need to create their own development program account, etc.

My question is how do I manage that with the build of the app for submission etc. The customer has no idea about development at all, and I fear it is going to be a nightmare to manage the whole process, including how do I build the app using their provisioning profile on my machine without conflicting with my own provisiong profile, etc.

Any insights from you guys about this?

Thanks! [import]uid: 168845 topic_id: 32811 reply_id: 332811[/import]

There are two options.

One, they buy Corona and you deliver them a fully tested source code and they build and deliver the app on their own. This has a downside of letting them have your code, but on the other hand, if someone is paying me to program for them, it’s their code anyway. I’m likely to not use it for another customer. This requires a little skill on their part, but it’s pretty easy. This is how I work with most of my customers.

Secondly, you can have them create their apple developer account and setup iTunes and then add you as an admin for their account. At that point you can do most all of the iTunes connect work as well as build and deliver to them. They will have to do the certificate work and you then add them to your keychain. Under this scenario you can maintain the end-to-end deliverables of your code.

I understand the value of having apps you make be under your name, but at the end of the day, if its in your name, sales are tied to your bank account not theirs. What you can do is have your own website where you can show off all the apps you’ve built. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 32811 reply_id: 130451[/import]

Thanks for your answer Rob. I’ll study the second option and have them follow that path. It does make a lot of sense that they manage their own app. [import]uid: 168845 topic_id: 32811 reply_id: 130453[/import]
