Publishing for Windows

I know this has been asked before and it’s in the pipeline but I just wondered where you guys are at with the possibility of being able to publish our apps out for Windows tablets / Windows 8 PCs.

I’m starting to get more requests from customers now for our apps to be available for Windows and I’m basically trying to decide whether it’s worth investing the time in recoding them for Windows or leaving it because Corona will offer this in the reasonably near future.

Thanks!

Ian

I don’t think that Windows/Mac OS support is coming in the near future. They are currently focusing on graphics 2.0, the plugin store (?) and general maintenance. You can vote for this here:

It is not a very high priority (right now) and might not ever be since CoronaLabs is focusing on mobile devices.

But there are a few LUA based frameworks out there that you can use to easily create desktop ports of your games.

My company has used Love2D in the past. It has a similar syntax and is very easy to use. I recommend to check it out.

Unity might be another choice but it is not LUA based and requires some special tweaking to work for 2D games at the moment

Thanks for the reply.

It wasn’t so much for PCs, more Windows phones and tablets that I was interested in.

If anyone from Corona has any idea of when this may be a possibility it would be great to know!

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Stay tuned. We’ll have more to say on this next week…

OH SNAP

Don’t go teasing us… if I could stop messing around with native android wrappers and deploy with Corona I’d be a happy camper!

Okay… I didn´t expect something like this… *gets hype*

Gentlemen, you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention.
