Pulling PropertyBag off GitHub

In the interest of productivity and realising that beginner users that have no idea and want to experiment with stuff are better off trying things that work for them easily, I have decided to discontinue the PropertyBag class, those that have it can continue to use it, but are prohibited from sharing it in source form with any other users henceforth.

I might bring it back with more functionality but at this point, I cannot respond to questions of “can the propertyBag be passed as a parameter to Director” type questions.

cheers,

Disappointing; I’d heard it spoken of very highly.

That said - I understand having to manage your time and not let one thing take it all up, so, best of luck in whatever your time is being freed up for and I do hope we will see a return of it in the future :slight_smile: [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 13890 reply_id: 51100[/import]

Why not just ignore the questions? With the source out there at least the newbies have a chance to experiment and continue to learn. You could just put it out unsupported.

I’m sad to here this, but I can understand the support quandary that goes with it. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 13890 reply_id: 51148[/import]

It sounds like a great class – a lot more robust than the save/load routines I managed to work out from code snippets/examples I found. As @don suggested above, how about allowing the class being circulated and used but with a caveat that you will not respond to any questions, and whoever is interested in using it must figure out how to use it without your help, and that the source is being provided as is, etc. (And then over time, you may or may not choose to update it as you deem fit?)

I’m sure user community would understand your position, and would still very much appreciate your class being made available no matter what. [import]uid: 67217 topic_id: 13890 reply_id: 52032[/import]

I just found PropertyBag today, and I have to say it looks like a very useful piece of code. I was hoping to use it in a project for a game development course I am taking, but I guess I was too late. Maybe you will decide to open it up to the public again soon, or maybe you won’t. I will say that if you were to open it up again, I would not blitzkrieg you with questions, but would be very grateful. [import]uid: 85976 topic_id: 13890 reply_id: 54503[/import]

property.lua

Hey Peach

Are there any similar classes in the Lua language such as property.lua or is there any interest by Ansca to develop a class with these functions? This seems like such a loss! [import]uid: 6288 topic_id: 13890 reply_id: 65241[/import]

@jstrahan - good options :slight_smile:

There’s also Jon Beebe’s Games class - which is quite handy although a bit broader in focus, so I’d suggest listening to jstrahan.
