Que pasa Carlos?

My pasa is fine, how is your pasa?

Team

Where have we been hiding?

We have been hunkered down in our cave and we would only come out once we had carved out our Android version up to par with the IOS version and I believe we have successfully fixed and brought up to speed our Android version of Corona.

Preliminary test show some apps running at 50% performance increase due to our focus on Froyo (Android) 2.2 and ARM7 builds. Test also show performance in par with the iDevices, and some math intensive cases, some performance indicators show a 32x performance increase.

We have also been hard at work in getting the Windows version up to par and to release it for general consumption. Your feedback has been extremely valuable and we have fixed and added a bunch of new features to our Corona for Windows as well as Corona in general.

We also enabled GameCenter via OpenFeint and we are expecting to have OpenFeint for Android working as soon as we can. There are some kludges we are working on with OF for Android and we are close to closing that and enabling OF in Android.

Just so that you know, GameCenter “only” features, Leader and Scoreboards, (not requiring OF) will come after this major Android push.

One major bug we fixed for Android is the fact that you no longer have to support a flat image directory structure. Phew ! That was a p***er to all of us as it didn’t make the cross solution really that ‘click of a button’ didn’t it. We have also added Async http and one of our user fixed the OATH Twitter library and Walter was hard at work fixing the Facebook library for Android. We should have those two samples ready right about the time we release all this major drop for you.

We are just a few days away from “code-freeze” and I strongly believe you will be happy with the Android performance, bug fixes, Corona for Windows out of beta so you can build Android Apps from within Windows.

But, it wouldn’t be a ‘release’ if we didn’t have a major announcement. So keep your eyes out for a significant announcement we will be making by mid April. I think you will like what we have up our sleeve. (let the guessing game as to what we are going announce begin).

Our engineering staff, QE staff, web staff and our IT dept has been hard at work in getting all the ducks lined up in a row for this new significant Android release.

I want to thank you for putting up with us during “crunch” time and I will update the roadmap for the next release.

Our primary focus on the next release will be Monetization and graphic enhancements. Yes, you read that right, our next drop will significantly focus in way to help you monetize via your application, and we will be focusing on graphics rendering and graphic enhancements.

Awesome news, Carlos. It’s been noticeably quieter around here lately (not in a good way) and I figured you guys were heads-down and digging into the code.

That, and partying (I saw the pictures!).

Looking forward to all the new coolness!

The new release will probably be just in time for me to compile my game with it before submitting to Apple. eeeeexcellent [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 8475 reply_id: 30971[/import]

Thanks a lot Ansca for pushing the Android part a lot. I had to wait one year to see this but better late than never. [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 8475 reply_id: 30975[/import]

Incidentally, I saw mention of a bug with SQLite in the daily builds:

Is that fixed in your upcoming release? [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 8475 reply_id: 31014[/import]

I feel your pain with the Android. Thanks Carlos and the rest of the Ansca staff for keeping the faith.
