Question on streaming to showing a map from Google or others

Hello,

I have a task to do with Corona and have a question. I need to display a map from a mapping service and my client has one. He says I can use either json or rest. I looked this up and I am just wondering how this is done. The josn for a map holds details fr the map? Or what exactly? I assumed I would pass the GPS location and I would receive a map image. When he says he has a mapping service streaming from their server do I rerceive something that needs to be shown in a browser?

He also said I can use another source such as Google or Bing. So would all of this be done in the web? If so, can I use the webView control for this?

I guess these may be questions for the client but where does the view start out at when the map is streamed? Is there a default zoom that is set, etc.?

Okay, did not know about the newMapView. I will try this out. But still how does json come into all of this? Can anyone let me know?
