Question regarding updating older apps with new build 2013.1095

With the new build 2013.1095 we got this:

“iOS - change the minimum supported iOS version to 5.1 (from 4.3) because we can’t support 4.3 - no casenum”

and now I wonder how I can make sure my updates for my apps which are already in the store will support 4.3… do I have to use an older build to update my apps?

Which Corona build is the last one supporting 4.3?

When I’m using the newest build to publish a new app doesn’t this mean with the iOS version 5.1 as a minimum I can’t reach any users using iOS 4.3? I think a lot of people are using 4.3, so these people couldn’t download the new app, right? How about people using 5.1… they should be able to download a 4.3 version without problems, right?

So doesn’t this all mean it’s better to still build for 4.3 for a while when getting a new app out there?

Any feedback appreciated! Thank you!

I don’t have an answer on how all of this is handled.  Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.   However if you visit this site:

http://david-smith.org/iosversionstats/

You will see as of last week iOS 4.3 was 1.6% of users.  That’s a pretty thin margin of people to be trying to support.

Thank you for the information! It’s good to know there are so few 4.3 users out there!
