VB is a pain. I think that .bat is about the easiest language you could possible code in.

True, but the OP wanted to know what language was the closest source code wise for his syntax highlight wordpress plugin. Lua’s control structures:

if then else
for
while

etc are the closed to basic than they are any of the curly brace languages (most in the list)

There’s a WP plugin that support LUA, however I haven’t tried this one myself yet.
It might be worth looking at though.

There’s a WP plugin called “CodeColorer” that supports Lua.

Thanks Peach. I’ll have to investigate it… I’m not a big fan of my syntax highlighter that I use on http://omnigeek.robmiracle.com
