Rejected by Apple because the game has a "Exit" button!

Our game “Best Memory 4 Kids” just got rejected by Apple because it has an “Exit” button.

Must say that this was an game update (the same user interface is alive at the App Store).

Also, our other two games also have “Exit” button and were never rejected cause of it.

Is this a new rule or what ???

Hi @ubj3d.android,

By an “exit” button, do you mean a button that triggers “os.exit”? This is generally a very frowned-upon practice for iOS, because Apple views it as the user thinking the app has crashed (not intentionally exited). I’m not sure why your other two games passed approval with an exit button, except that maybe the reviewer didn’t notice it, or didn’t consider it a reject-able issue.

Best regards,

Brent

Hi Brent,

How could a user think it was a crash, please look at the screenshot, I think it is clear this is an “Exit” button.

They are very inconsistent in their review, you are never sure if they found a “new” issue.

Very unprofessional …

Apple app users do not expect apps to “Exit”.  If the app user wishes to leave your app, they press the home button.   If you plan to use this on both Android and iOS, simply hide the Exit button if you’re on iOS.

As far as Apple’s rules, they may have started cracking down on this more.  The different review teams probably have different levels of scrutiny that they apply.  Just because they approved something in the past doesn’t mean they will continue to do so as their rules change.

You’ve been lucky with Apple accepting the app with an Exit button.

They’ve never allowed any other form of exiting an app other than with the Home button. I agree that their approval process might seem lax at times, but that’s the way it’s always been. However it’s the same with all other app store’s approval processes as well (Samsung/Amazon etc.)

Jedi Is this the screen shot you are talking about. Where is that exit button. I have downloaded the same game but didn’t find any “exit” button there.

Yes, that is the screen. We have removed the red (exit) button and resubmitted the game.
