Removing widget.newTabBar() Stroke

Hi all,

I’m looking to remove the stroke on by tabBar for the widget.newTabBar(). I noticed that there isn’t an option for it in the documentation. I’ve tried various method but have yet to succeed.

On a similar note, does anyone know how to edit the width of individual buttons in said tabBar?

There are so many automatic options that we can’t control. I’d love to be able to make what I want to make using Corona instead of using all these automated defaults.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hi Ben,
I understand your concern, and I will say that a whole new collection of widgets is coming to Corona in the next few weeks (some are already here, you can read my blog post from last week). I’m personally helping to introduce these widgets to the community as they are completed. The new widgets will be far better and much more customizable than the previous ones, giving you the control that you crave (for the most part, but there will still be reasonable boundaries!).

Please stay tuned, and let me know if you have any specific concerns or questions.

Brent,

That’s great news! Do you have a website, email list, or the like that I can sign up to for updates?

This is a student project and I’ve got a little bit over a month to figure the kinks out. What is the timetable on your widgets?

Regardless of whether it fits my timing I’m sure that they will be very helpful to a great many people.

Thanks,

Hi Ben,
Just an update: I’m monitoring these widgets closely with the Corona team, and various delays (some related to hardware issues) are delaying them. So, if your project is under a strict deadline of a few weeks from today, I can’t (unfortunately) promise you when the updated TabBar widget will be available. Because of that, my suggestion would be to implement some temporary workaround or build your own tab bar method, which shouldn’t be difficult if you’ve got some Corona/Lua coding experience behind you. I could probably help you figure out the basic logic behind it, maybe even some of the code aspects, if you’re really under a tight deadline… again, I apologize for the delay on the official widgets!

Regards,
