[Resolved] 1.9 Open Project fails on Mac

[edit] Sorry, after a bit more browsing I found a related topic. Deleting the user directory (Help -> User Directory) and restart resolves the problem.

Hi,

I am sure this was working up until a while ago but now I can’t seem to open projects anymore. Selecting a folder that has the main.lua inside doesn’t enable the “Open” button in the “Open Project” requester anymore on my Mac.

If I select the main.lua, I can hit “Open” but Glider will abort with a “Directory doesn’t contain any project” (fair enough, it is a file, not directory ;) ).

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

Danz

Hello Danz,

The problem was due to the “maximize native look and feel” option in the Misc. panel. Currently there is a Java bug that prevents this from working properly but it is fixed and it will be available when java 7u40 comes out in August. You may use finder and just drag and drop folders into the glider editor to open the projects that way.

Thanks for your response,

Apparently when I had that issue, drag & drop of the project folder didn’t work either. Can’t provide anymore details at this stage though as everything is working fine now. Just something that might help you guys to make the next version more stable.

BTW (off topic) - can we get the window resize fixed? If I open Glider on my MacBook Air and then move the window over to a 23" external monitor, the maximum window size is fairly limited. Pity for a development environment where every additional inch of space is worth gold…

Hello Danz,

Strange window resize bug. We will file a bug report, please send us a screenshot of what it looks like when you move it and maximize it. I think here is a workaround for this issue:

  1. Undock the editors via right click on an editor tab -> float group.
  2. A new window should appear with only the editors inside it
  3. Move this group to the other monitor and try maximizing

Please let us know if that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Apparently the floating window can’t be maximized either - just to the same size as the main app window. You can resize to a certain size and then the mouse cursor changes from resize (arrow pointing in two directions) to a resize in one direction (arrow pointing only in one direction).

Unfortunately the mouse doesn’t get captured on the screenshot, but this windows is the maximum you can get on the external monitor:

Thanks,

Danz

Hello Danz,

Does the maximum window size happen to be the same size as your smaller monitor?

It does indeed. Should have added that in my last post…

Hello Danz,

Sorry but our mac does not have dual graphics ports to hook up another monitor on it. Could you perhaps try making the external monitor the main display and see if it works that way? We will file a java bug report for this issue.
