I am running OSX Snow Leopard and run Xcode 4.2 I think. Should I be running Xcode 4.3? and does it work on Snow Leopard?. [import]uid: 14290 topic_id: 23676 reply_id: 323676[/import]
Hey there,
If you want to be up to date you should be using Xcode 4.3 now which yes, is for Lion, no Snow Leopard version.
That said Snow Leopard and Xcode 4.2 work OK if you are just testing on your own pre iOS 5.1 device. (5.1 requires Xcode 4.3 so you must have it come ship time.)
Hope this helps,
Peach

Hmm, I today tested my corona apps on iPod Touch with IOS 5.1 attached to Mac with Snow Leopard and it working well… I also sent to review New iPad game update created on Snow Leopard and Corona 704b (but I don’t have the New iPad then Im not sure that it working well on new iPad). Your update created using 704b, was that with Xcode 4.2? If so did you test it on anything running iOS 5.1? I was the under the impression that didn’t work.
I tried installing a Lion made app on a iOS 5.1 device (Xcode 4.2) and it failed, although I wasn’t using the updated build which may have had something to do with it.
Forgive all the questions - I’m still catching up on all this new Xcode, iOS and iPad stuff

Yes, Corona 704b/xCode4.2 builds working well on IOS 5.1 device.
IMHO xCode 4.3 is only needed to utilize new IOS 5.1 functions and if my apps (or Corona) don’t use these IOS 5.1 only features then xCode 4.3 is don’t needed. [import]uid: 50988 topic_id: 23676 reply_id: 95122[/import]
Oh wow, OK, that’s really handy to know - I stand corrected!
Thanks for the additional info, I may actually be able to keep Snow Leopard on my MBP a little longer

Wow, only if I knew about it before I started downloading the mega Lion. I really liked my Snow Leopard setting. It’s not that updating to Lion made a big difference but that I don’t like updating to a big, giant system when I was totally happy with my Macbook’s performance. Oh well, I can’t go back, and I was in a super duper hurry to ensure my game is New iPad (iPad3 Retina) ready.
Thanks for sharing the info. I’m sure there are bunch of developers who’d be happy to hear about this.

I tried buuild 767 with Xcode 4.2 and it did NOT work with my new iPad…

I’m reading our notes from release of 767; http://developer.anscamobile.com/release/2012/767
That states we need Xcode 4.3.1 for the new iPad.
So, from the look of comments, you can build for iOS 5.1 WITHOUT Xcode 4.3, but for the new iPad you DO need it.
I’ll get confirmation on that from someone else on the team who has been working with all of this stuff but from what I can gather for now that seems to be the case. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 23676 reply_id: 95363[/import]
See this: http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2012/03/24/build-ios-51-snow-leopard
Danny posted how you might do this without updating to Lion.
Cheers,
