[Resolved] There is a problem parsing the package, Corona Simulator Version 2012.840 (2012.06.19)

Hi all,

I’ve been facing a problem since last three hours when trying to fix the lag using storyboard library in my Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Xoom tablet.

The thing is, when i tried to use latest stable build(2012.840) i’ve faced the next issue when trying to install even some templates from Corona Simulator:

Parse Error
There is a problem parsing the package.

When i checked logcat to see some errors, i’ve found the next:

06-20 22:16:51.960: W/ResourceType(23055): Bad XML block: header size 28024 or total size 1702240364 is larger than data size 4531 06-20 22:16:51.968: W/PackageInstaller(23055): Parse error when parsing manifest. Discontinuing installation 06-20 22:16:51.968: W/PackageParser(23055): Unable to read AndroidManifest.xml of /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.dropbox.android/files/scratch/testapp.apk 06-20 22:16:51.968: W/PackageParser(23055): java.io.FileNotFoundException: Corrupt XML binary file

The interesting thing here, is that i just changed from Build 2011.703 to latest version. Is there any solution, do i need to report this as a bug, and more important, why this is happening?

Kind regards,
Enrique Díaz

I am having a parse error as well when installing unto an android device. Not sure how to get the info that nRike get, but I do receive a parse error when accessing the APK file. I just upgraded from .833 last night. It worked fine in 833, just updated to .840 that is when the issue occurred.
EDIT:

Oh, and I tried building the example DragMe app and I run into the same issue when I try to put it unto a device. [import]uid: 147305 topic_id: 27807 reply_id: 112629[/import]

We tried re-downloading the release version, build 840, and built several APKs for Android… and they all installed correctly.

From the error that you posted, it sounds like the APK file was corrupted or not fully transferred to your computer. Perhaps it was just a networking blip. None of our other customers have cited any issues with this build. Can you give it another go today please? Thanks! [import]uid: 32256 topic_id: 27807 reply_id: 112676[/import]

Can everyone who is having problems trying building the HelloWorld sample app to see if that works.

If you are downloading your APKs from a Dropbox folder, trying installing from a local directory instead.

It’s working now, even with the same build so i guess there was some connection issues around that time. [import]uid: 147305 topic_id: 27807 reply_id: 112713[/import]

Hi Joshua,

I’ve forgot to comment i tried to download several times the same build (2012.840) but i had no luck with this. For now i’ve tried to download build 2012.838 and seems to work ok. However, i’m going to try Tom’s answer because i suspect the problem comes when i upload the .apk inside a Dropbox folder.

I’m going to give a shot and reply you back, thank you!
Kind regards,
Enrique Díaz.

Hi Tom,

I’ve tried now with the same build(2012.840) and now it’s working, even downloading my .apk from Corona server to a Dropbox folder.
Thank you Corona staff!

Hi budershank ,

What i did was open Eclipse with Android SDK installed and checked the Logcat tool.

Glad you solved this issue too.
