Retina Graphics Only

Hi,

My game will support only retina graphics. I am wondering if i can get clarification on the following questons.

  1. Do I need to use the @2x.png convention if I am only using retina graphics?

  2. Under config.lua do I set my width / height to 320px / 480px or do i set the width/height to 640 / 960 px?

  3. Do i need to add the imageSuffix to my config file as well?

Its gonna be for iphone 4/4s only to start. I intend to make an iPad version. If i made my images large for the iPad3 would iPad 2, iphone 4/4s display them properly?

Ah ok I hear “retina” I automatically think IPad :slight_smile:

Anyway - I am doing something for IPad right now. When using letterbox scaling, the same exact code and images runs on my android phone with slight misalignments of text, but otherwise perfectly. So I would think the answer would be yes, but with the reservation that letterbox may leave black borders on downscaled devices (since 640x960 is 0.66 ratio and 1536x2048 is 0.75, your content height on the smaller resolution would be 853 instead of 960, so there will be a 54 pixel black border top and bottom I guess) [import]uid: 160496 topic_id: 28690 reply_id: 115680[/import]
