Retro Lander released!

Hi Folks,

Just published Retro Lander on Android Market (App Store coming soon - hopefully).

Here’s the link and a blurb:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.macaisoftware.games.retrolander

_Ever wanted to pilot a 1970’s spacecraft? Land on distant worlds?
This fun, physics-based simulation takes you to different worlds where you can try your hand at landing your spacecraft for glory (and points). Different planets have different environmental conditions (gravity, atmosphere, wind). Realistic physics and intuitive controls make this a fun and addictive game for anyone.

Happy landings… but be careful not to run out of fuel_ [import]uid: 76436 topic_id: 18634 reply_id: 318634[/import]

i struggled with how to start the game, because its wasnt working for me, there should be just “start” button or something

graphics is simple, maybe too simple i dont know) there’s no music at all? and i found it too damn hard ) [import]uid: 16142 topic_id: 18634 reply_id: 71577[/import]

Hi Dark,

Thanks for the feedback - I appreciate it.

You’re right, there’s no music (I should do something about that).

Can you give me some more detail about what wasn’t working? Why did you struggle to start? There is a “play game” button - then a level selection screen. Didn’t that work for you? If there’s a problem, I would really like to fix it.

And one final thing… I agree, it takes a bit of practice. Can you give me some ideas about how to make it easier? Some of my beta testers preferred the controls to be inverted (which is an option on the level screen, and on the pause game menu). Maybe that would work better as the default setting? Any other ideas?

Thanks…

i struggled with level select menu, where it moves when you drag it, its really sometimes messes with touch events for level icon i think

about gameplay: i slowed down ship a lot and it still crashed when i landed it somewhat in angle, its just too hard for me was to maintain vertical position
i think game can be better with more responsive controls, eye candy like special effects when ship moves and addictive music

my 2 cents [import]uid: 16142 topic_id: 18634 reply_id: 71592[/import]

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback… I’ll see what I can do.

One request if you have time… invert the controls (either in the level select screen or the pause game menu). See if that is more intuitive (or maybe it’s still too fiddly).

Thanks again… [import]uid: 76436 topic_id: 18634 reply_id: 71596[/import]
