Returning To Corona

I discovered Corona SDK about 2 years ago, but for some reasons - too boring to go into here - i was fiddling about with a few 2D game engines and basically wasted my time in the process.
I am hoping to realize my dream in 2015 of creating some fun apps for kids and adults and launching them via my indie studio business - i hope. As a designer and artist, i’ve been itching to get out of Web Design for some time - it’s all become too homogenized and everyone wants Wordpress and to look the same. Online services like Wix, Squarespace and Themeforest are also killing the business for small web studios.
I have thus returned to Corona SDK simply because, of all the game engines out there - some amazing and some downright awful - i see Corona as being the most powerful tool for building apps and games for the mobile market and the best value. It took me a while to realize that it’s a darn powerful beast and you have the options - once you’ve mastered the tool - to create business apps as well as educational experiential games and stuff. It does so much very well.
Most of the dedicated 2D game engines are very good but they are one trick ponies and cannot be utilized to do much else. Most of them also seem reasonably priced until you factor in the export modules and assets needed to publish to the app stores. Some - mentioning no names - are exploitative in their pricing strategies which puts me right off.
Corona SDK offers the FREE starter version which i am now learning with new optimistic vigor. I will be happy to pay my $16PM when i am ready to go Standard and need IAP etc. I don’t know if i will ever need the Pro as i am not sure how beneficial Graphics 2.0 will be for what i am doing. My main gripe is that i will not have use of Composer GUI because i am a PC guy. But maybe someone can recommend a good tool for me.
I have no idea how long Coronalabs will offer the Standard license at $16PM. I do hope it remains the same because i have no idea how successful my dream will be and sadly the indie app developer statistics are not too optimistic. Only a few actually make a profit and a few more break even. Okay, i’m getting all negative. Ignore that. The Pro $49PM might seem cheap to many, but having to pay annually along with so many other bills, i have to be careful because my cashflow is often flowing upstream.
