Roaming Gamer - Free Git Hub Content

@all,

Hi folks.  I need your help in making a decision.

For a long time now, I have maintained a unified GitHub Repository: RG_FreeStuff

In this repository, you can find all kinds of free content, including:

  • AskEd/ - Hundreds of code answers and examples to forums questions since 2014.
  • SSK2/ - Additional free content for SSK2 lite and PRO users.
  • Other stuff less interesting…

I also maintain another repository containing all of the code I wrote and discussed on the Corona Geek Hangouts.

While it makes sense that the CoronaGeek content stay in one huge repository, having my Free Stuff organized this way seems messy.

My questions to you are:

  1. Do you use either my FreeStuff content or CoronaGeek?

  2. If you use it, how often do you check for new content?

  3. Do you think I should keep it together as one big repository, or should I split it up into smaller project repositories?

For comparison, look at how the Glitch Games guys do their repositories: https://github.com/GlitchGames

I am thinking of splitting up my content, but if the community doesn’t care or thinks it is better the way it is I don’t want to rock the boat.

If I split this up, I’ll probably use this organization…

One repository per:

  • AskEd 2014
  • AskEd 2015
  • AskEd 2016
  • AskEd 2017
  • SSK Free/Extra Content #1
  • SSK Free/Extra Content #2
  • SSK Free/Extra Content …
  • Other Free Content #1
  • Other Free Content #2
  • Other Free Content …

Hi Ed,

Your content help me alot!
Thanks!

  1. I use if from time to time.

  2. Not often, on attrition basis I check (when I need something).

  3. Smaller project would be very nice. But this is also OK.

  1. I do use both, however I can’t find *any* of the CoronaGeek videos anymore, as I would use that along with your code to learn by. I hope Charles has plans on having them out there somewhere. (They are good to just listen to in the car on a commute).

I tend to use ‘Freestuff’ when solving an issue, and I use the full code for analysis when looking on how to organize/structure development along with how to pass data cross module etc.

  1. I use Freestuff more frequently, I’d lean towards once every couple of weeks on average.

  2. I’d say smaller as it’s easier to find stuff. A big one you can argue puts it all in one place, but it depends on its structure. Any is really OK if we can find it.

I don’t (SSK2 excepted) check for new versions. If it solves the problem I move on, if it didn’t and I couldn’t solve it, I move on

As a community user, I’d be happy with whatever is less of a chore for you since if it IS a chore, then you’re less likely to add/continue with it. I’d rather have a jumbled mess than nothing

The videos should all be here:

https://www.youtube.com/user/CoronaGeek

I won’t embarrass myself on how long I looked for them on podcast sites, corona geek, etc. I suspect I missed it as I was looking for offline copies. I think I’ll try www.youtubeto.com

Thank you.
